People's Association Senior Academy x Scrapbooking

I had such a fun time making a shadow-box scrapbook with my mum organized by The People's Association Senior Academy last week!

Look at our finished masterpieces! Nice right!

These are a few of the art and craft pieces that teacher Mui made, for us to take a look and for our inspiration.

Beautiful right!

There was also a big table full of collectibles and  lots of stickers, ribbons, papers for us to use.

Even Singapore stamps!

This is so so so pretty! Who doesn't love flowers!!!

 Selfie before we start!

This was what we all started with, a clean blank box.

I just HAD to make mine super colorful hahahaha. No more vintage feel oops.

Here's mummy hard at work.

Shared a table with Debbie and her mum as well!

Here's a close-up of my finished piece! It doesn't look difficult to create but honestly it took us near 3 hours and so hard to get inspiration!

Here's mummy's one!

Thank you teacher Mui for guiding us and helping us out with this shadow-box scrapbook!

Debbie's final piece!

Christine's final piece!

Our final pieces! Happy faces all around because we all had so much fun!

The People's Association Senior Academy

The People’s Association (PA) initiated the ‘Senior Academy’ with it's key mission to encourage more seniors, 50 years old and above, to pursue lifelong learning aspirations and lead an active lifestyle by providing accessible and affordable senior-friendly programme! The senior academy will offer three programs (as shown above).

Certificate in Senior Wellness Programme

This 4-month structured Certificate in Senior Wellness programme is enriched with 10 core and elective modules customised by celebrity Trainers and passionate PA Trainers.
The programmes (offered in both Mandarin and English depending on demand) are specially designed to focus on topics revolving around body, mind and soul. These offer seniors with a diverse choice of knowledge-based (e.g. Introduction to Mobile Apps & Tablets and Essential First Aid) and lifestyle-centric courses (e.g. Golden Home Chef by celebrity chef, Fusion Fitness and Learn Patchwork & Sewing).

Seniors who complete the programme will be able to fulfil their dreams of wearing a graduation gown and putting on a mortar board to receive their certificates at the graduation ceremony. (How cute is that!)

Golden Hobbyist Series

Comprising a wide variety of one-off elective courses, this series enable seniors who prefer ad-hoc learning to select and attend courses of their interest, and be affiliated to a group of senior learners under the Golden Hobbyist interest group (IG).
As members of the IG, they are able to earn free workshops / courses under the Golden Hobbyist reward system. Complimentary ad-hoc talks/seminars and programmes will also be organised to enable Golden Hobbyist IG members to come together to make new friends and learn new knowledge.

Golden Work Series

Comprising a variety of customised job-based skills workshops to enable seniors who are interested to do part-time work and/or freelance work to pick up some relevant skills and knowledge required by the work industries.
For this series, PA will be working closely with corporate and community partners like the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) to identify jobs which are suitable for seniors and develop relevant workshops to best matched the skills required by the various industries.

Programmes Are Very Affordable!

As part of SG50 celebrations, PA will be heavily subsidising the course fees for Singaporeans / Permanent Residents for Senior Academy programmes in 2015.

· For the 4-month Certificate in Senior Wellness programme, Singaporean / PR will only pay $50 (PAssion Card member) or $62 (Non-PAssion Card member) instead of the full course fees of $250.

· For the Golden Hobbyist series, Singaporeans / PR can select a course of their interest and pay $10 (PAssion Card member) or $20 (Non-PAssion Card member) instead of the full course fees of $25.

· For participant aged below 50 years, they will pay $20 (PAssion Card member) or $30 (Non-Passion Card member).

Where are these programmes held?

Ten Community Clubs (CCs) island-wide, as listed below, have been identified as Senior Academy satellite centres to make our offer senior-friendly programme convenient for everyone.

Just a photo of my cute grandparents!

Senior Academy offers seniors a ‘passport’ to affordable, accessible and holistic programmes.  It also aims to empower seniors who are ready to enjoy their golden years through fun and friendships.

I would also like my grandparents to be able to enjoy these fun activities organized by the People's Association Senior Academy! If my mum and I already had so much fun making a shadow-box scrapbook, I'm sure my grandparents will enjoy it as well.
